The Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document for individuals aged 21 and above to appoint one or more donees to make decisions on their behalf should they lose mental capacity. This document needs to be signed by a Certificate Issuer - an accepted Medical Practitioner (doctor), lawyer, or psychiatrist - who confirms the donor understands the LPA's implications.

How to make an LPA

Step 1: Appoint Your Donee(s)

A Donee is someone who is aged 21 and above, who will make decisions for you when you lose mental capacity.

Step 2: Draft Your LPA Online

Login to the Office of the Public Guardian Online (OPGO) via Singpass to draft your LPA.

Step 3: Visit a Certificate Issuer (CI)

CIs are accredited Medical Practitioners, Practising Lawyers and/or Registered Psychiatrists.

Step 4: Digital LPA is Ready

When the digital LPA is accepted and registered. Donor and Donee(s) will be notified of the status.
